The most expensive movie ever made, Marvel’s The Avengers, sold for a cool $1.5 billion, making it the most expensive film ever to be sold on Amazon Prime.
But there’s another Marvel film that’s going for a record-breaking price tag, too.
The film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, is set to make $1 billion at the worldwide box office, according to Box Office Mojo, and its director, Anthony and Joe Russo, said it will likely break the record in the first half of 2017.
“The movie is going to be the best movie of all time,” Joe Russo told Entertainment Weekly.
“It’s a classic Marvel movie.
We’re all in on it.
We’ve all been there.
And it’s gonna be a hit.
That’s all I’m saying.”
“It has been a long road, but it’s a good journey.
It’s been a lot of work, but I feel like I’m on the right path,” he added.
The movie is set in 2019 and stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Sebastian Stan, Robert Downey Jr., Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Paul Rudd, and James Spader.
The story follows Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), the only member of the original Avengers, as he faces the threat of the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the return of Captain America (Chris Hemsworth), who has fallen in love with his adopted daughter Natasha Romanoff (Elizabeth Olsen).
The film was released in theaters on May 6, 2019.
It was nominated for an Academy Award and won two Oscars for best picture and best supporting actor.
“This is one of the most exciting movies of the year,” said Amazon Studios President David S. Rubenstein.
“We’re just thrilled to have this opportunity to bring Captain America to audiences around the world.”
Captain America, the third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is based on the characters Captain America and Captain America II, which debuted in 2002 and 2003 respectively.
It stars Chris Hemple, Anthony Mackie, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen and Tom Holland.
