Oil companies have been scrambling to find alternative ways to clean up spills in India.
The country’s biggest oil and gas company, Petrobras, says it has already begun installing technology to clean oil spills.
But it has faced resistance from the public, as well as opposition from environmentalists and opposition lawmakers.
So Petrobrans has begun to focus on other methods to help reduce the amount of oil that can get into the environment.
The company has been looking for ways to capture oil and natural gas from the ground as well.
Petrobrs has also been testing a technology called Biofuel, which uses plant life to produce methane gas.
But there are concerns about biofuel emissions, and its production process involves extracting methane from oil and using the resulting gas to produce electricity.
So Petrobrus has teamed up with another company, Indian Oil Corp. to develop Biofuel for electricity generation.
Biofuel could help reduce carbon emissions, the company said.
In India, the country has a huge oil and hydrocarbon industry, with production exceeding 4 billion barrels a day.
PetroBras has said it is trying to cut down on the amount that gets into the atmosphere, which is estimated to be around 2 billion barrels per day.
